Frosh Me Please!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Well folks, it’s that time of year again! Back to the books…but not before some rockin’ out right?

Basically, some university / college students got some really good bands playing for them this year.

UofT gets Tokyo Police Club and Cadence Weapon. September 5 @ Back Campus.

Ryerson gets Kardinal Offishall and Thunderheist. September 5 @ Toronto Island

Humber gets k-os and Girl Talk (wow). September 10 @ North Campus Amphitheatre

York gets Stars (very jealous). September 16 @ Rexall Centre.

Queen’s gets Sam Roberts.

UOIT gets Bedouin Soundclash. Sept 4 @ EP Taylors campus pub.

Overall, 2008 looks like a fierce frosh concert competition! In my opinion having Bedouin sooth my ears will be a great “pre-Vfest” treat!

V-fest Set Times A-GO!

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Well, they are finally here! (Not V-fest yet) But the anticipated band set times.

They can be found here: http://virginfestival.ca/toronto/#/lineup/.

Overall, the 2008 schedule looks pretty decent. However, on day 1, they decided to bill MGMT, the Fratellis and newly added Lights at almost the same slot on different stages around 5 O’clock-ish. Running around to three distant stages is not going to be too pleasant.

On day 2, everything is spread out quite well. Stereophonics, The Secret Broadcast and Moby (woo!) are nice and plannable to get to without any hassle. And of course, they give Oasis the lone 9 spot giving no one an excuse to not see them live.

The festival is going to rock! Be there!
