About

Hi, my name is Sean Chin. I am a mad scientist by day, and a rock star concert photojournalist by night. I have a joint passion for science and art.

I have been taking photos for about 5 years now and I am self-taught and have never taken a formal course in photography. My work ranges from portraits, nature, food and photojournalism but, as you can tell from the majority of my photos, my specialty is Live Concert Photography.

My passion for photography and my love for music have have formed a nice bond together and has, to this date, allowed me to photograph a wide-range of musical acts.

Since 2005, I have had the privilege of photographing many new and upcoming bands, as well as many international headlining artists such as Radiohead, Björk, The Killers, Interpol, and Foo Fighters just to name a few.

My work has won awards including “Best of Show in Intermediate Division” at the Markham Fair in 2006 and numerous other awards. Some of my photographs have even been published on major publications such as CBC.ca and Pitchfork.com.

Until 2009, along side with my co-host and partner in crime Andrew Tomayer, we hosted our own weekly 2-hour extravaganza of a campus radio show called “Detuned Radio” since 2006. Our program entertained and served students of three institutions, UOIT, Durham College and Trent University.

Dr. Bluechardt (Dean of Health Science)                    Dr. Kumar and I at Research Day 2009

I recently graduated from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Health Science  (Hon) in Medical Laboratory Science. At UOIT, I had the opportunity to conduct my research on Gram-negative antibiotic resistant bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baummanii in Dr. Ayush Kumar’s research laboratory in which I won 1st prize at UOIT’s 6th Annual Research Showcase in the Health Sciences. As part of my final year, I am completing my clinical training at the world-renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

My latest major project is the recent launch of an online life-style magazine called Live in Limbo.

I hope you keep visiting my blog as my journey in life continues and that you enjoy the work that I create.

Cheers!

Sean
